The ed-tech major in India, Unacademy announced that Abhishek Pipara would be the next Chief Financial Officer for its offline business arm, Unacademy Centres. It had informed its employees of this move through a company Slack channel memo from CEO Gaurav Munjal. Munjal said he trusts Pipara’s leadership and noted how he has helped the organization drive both increased financial efficiency and strategic growth.
Abhishek Pipara, who has also been associated with Unacademy for seven years, was already a vice president of finance. With the strong experience and strategic acumen, Abhishek is perfect to lead the financial operation for Unacademy Centres while providing support for the company’s continued growth and success.
Unacademy centres play a very important role as the structure of courses, dedicated mentors, and benefits of both online and offline lend a personalized learning experience to students. These centers provide students aiming to prepare for competitive exams such as IIT JEE, NEET, UPSC, and CAT, a wholesome, tailor-made educational environment.
The appointment of Abhishek Pipara as CFO for Unacademy Centres is also a part of the effort by the company to strengthen its leadership team and drive operational excellence. And, the company had set a strategic restructuring of leadership roles in its organization when it appointed Jagnoor Singh as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of its offline centers a few months back this year.
The company’s revenue stayed more or less the same for the fiscal year up to March 2024 as reports indicated that financial scrutiny shone its light upon Unacademy. On the other hand, though losses are generated by the company, they greatly reduced by as much as 62% and mark an important decrease from the previous fiscal year’s losses. Thus, financial developments reflect the commitment of Unacademy towards principles of financial discipline and sustained growth.
In light of this, the appointment of Abhishek Pipara as the CFO for Unacademy Centres hints at a revival of focus on finance management and appropriate operational efficiency in the organization. Pipara will drive financial strategies to optimize resources and support Unacademy’s growth trajectory in an edtech competitive landscape.
Over the last year, Unacademy has witnessed several changes in leadership since several of the key executives left the organization. These include Chief Operating Officer Vivek Sinha, Group CFO Subramanian Ramachandran, and co-founder and CTO Hemesh Singh. In these respects, while changes were personnel; innovation, quality education delivery, and strategic leadership appointments in a firm direction for continued success and impacts in the edtech space remain areas to which Unacademy is committed.
Other appointments include Abhishek Pipara, who now serves as the CFO for Unacademy Centres. One might say that it testifies to the focus that the company is holding in financial stewardship, operational excellence, and sustainable growth with which it continues to empower more learners and educators across the country.
