This is again the famous location for taking the best shooting scenes in the US. “If you build it, they will come” is beyond apropos for this site. Yes, Universal Pictures actually built the baseball diamond for Field of Dreams (1989). Located just outside Dyersville, Iowa, on farmland owned by two separate families, the field has certainly become a fun tourist stop.
15. Steps & Rocky Statue
Unlike some overhyped attractions that don’t quite live up to the hype—yes, we’re looking at you, Liberty Bell—the Rocky series is linked to two iconic Philly landmarks that definitely deliver. The Rocky Statue and the famous “Rocky Steps” are among the city’s most visited tourist spots and make the perfect backdrop for any Instagram post.
16. Circus Liquor
Hopefully, when you visit this Clueless (1995) filming site, you won’t end up stranded or, you know, mugged for your Alaia at gunpoint like Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone). Now a landmark in North Hollywood, Circus Liquor is located at 5600 Vineland Avenue.
17. RR Diner & The Great Northern
Famous for its starring role in David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, the Double R Diner is renowned as the place “where pies go when they die.” In real life, the diner is actually Twede’s Cafe in North Bend, Washington, where you can indulge in delicious cherry pie, check out a Twin Peaks mural, and pick up themed souvenirs.
The Great Northern Hotel from the program is situated above a waterfall in the nearby town of Snoqualmie. The actual hotel called the Salish Lodge & Spa, produces its own honey and provides a Twin Peaks-themed lodging package, which includes a list of additional places that enthusiasts can visit.
18. Nakatomi Plaza
Nakatomi Plaza, the iconic skyscraper from the film Die Hard, is a symbol of action movie history. While the building itself is actually the Fox Plaza in Los Angeles, it remains forever linked to Bruce Willis’ legendary role as John McClane and the intense events of that Christmas Eve.
The building looks almost identical to how it appeared in Die Hard, though, unfortunately, there aren’t any official tours dedicated to the film. Not a Die Hard fan? No worries—Fox Plaza also made appearances in Fight Club (1999), as well as episodes of The X-Files and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
19. Carrie Bradshaw’s Apartment
You probably can’t help but question if you share the general consensus that New York City is the “fifth character” of Sex and the City. Does Carrie Bradshaw’s flat make up the ensemble’s sixth member? Carrie did not reside on the Upper East Side for the sake of shooting, despite what viewers are led to believe.
The apartment, complete with its iconic stoop, is located at 66 Perry Street in the West Village. However, the owners aren’t exactly fond of the attention. They’ve roped off the stoop to keep fans from sitting there and even requested that Google blur the building on Street View to deter curious visitors.
20. Apartment Complex
On Griffith Park Boulevard at 2900 stands the entirely fictional Sierra Bonita apartment complex from David Lynch’s Mulholland Dr. (2001). In the film, it provides horror for the movie’s two main characters; there, they discover a rotting corpse. But in life, the complex doesn’t look nearly so scary.
In fact, when Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) was in production, several of the big-name Disney animators actually lived in the complex, and they supposedly modelled the dwarves’ cottage after the fairy-tale architecture. Mulholland Dr. fans can also pop into Pink’s Hotdogs in Hollywood and even down the titular street itself for more David Lynch-esque chills.
21. Cabazon Dinosaurs
Just west of Palm Springs is the Cabazon Dinosaurs, formerly known as Claude Bell’s Dinosaurs, from Tim Burton’s Pee-wee’s Big Adventure (1985). For good cause, you can see the 150-foot-long Brontosaurus (Dinny) and the 65-foot-tall T-rex from Interstate 10.
The dinosaurs were made by Claude Bell, a former sculptor for Knott’s Berry Farm amusement park, to draw more customers to his neighbouring eatery. “The first dinosaur in history… to be used as a building,” Bell said of Dinny. The property is now home to a purported “creationist museum.”
22. Grand Central Market
Do you enjoy Blade Runner and have aspirations of reenacting certain scenes from the 1982 science fiction masterpiece? You’re lucky! A number of significant scenes were filmed on location throughout the city, but Ridley Scott shot a large portion of the dystopian downtown Los Angeles backdrop on the Warner Bros. Studio lot.
You may recognise Santee Alley at 317 South Broadway from the well-known pursuit sequence in Blade Runner between Deckard (Harrison Ford) and replicant Zhora (Joanna Cassidy). You can experience the vibrant ambience of Grand Central Market, which is about a mile north, where you may run into visitors or, dare we say it, other replicants.
23. Monk’s Diner
Since the 1940s, Tom’s Restaurant, situated near the intersection of Broadway and West 112th Street, has been providing diner fare. Despite being mentioned in the 1987 Suzane Vega song “Tom’s Diner,” the family-run eatery gained widespread recognition because of Seinfeld (1989–1998).
The show’s core characters frequently hung out at Monk’s, and Tom was the subject of all those exterior photos. The inside may surprise fans because those sequences were shot on a set. Nevertheless, stop by and grab a “big salad” to go.
24. Crain Communications Building
The diamond-shaped, 41-story Crain Communications Building is a standout feature of Chicago’s iconic skyline. In the 1987 cult classic Adventures in Babysitting, the film’s thrilling climactic chase unfolds on Michigan Avenue, with the distinctive skyscraper prominently in the background.
While the Crain Communications Building has appeared in numerous Chicago-based films, it plays a more prominent and dramatic role in Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011), where it takes quite a beating. In 2017, the building changed hands when a Los Angeles-based investment manager purchased it for $132 million.
25. Point Dume
Point Dume is situated on the coast of Malibu and protrudes over the Pacific Ocean. Even if you’ve never been to Malibu, you might still recognise the area from a number of popular films, such as the 1968 science fiction classic Planet of the Apes.
In Apes, a matte painting of a demolished Statue of Liberty that appears to have washed up on the coast famously obscures the Point’s rock face. Marvel fans will recognise Point Dume as the made-up site of Tony Stark’s beachfront residence from the Iron Man and Avengers movies.
Conclusion
These scenes, which have been listed above, are famous for capturing the famous movies and dramas where some of the actors and filmmakers have captured the most iconic moments of the movies and series. There will be some fees charged for exploring the scenes and enjoying the moment.
Film stars and actors are those human beings who enhance the value of such places where they get the perfect view of the film.
