Fabtech Engineering, a well known steel fabrication specialist, based in Dubai Industrial City (DIC), has reached a strategic agreement with Groupe M, a major player in France’s industrial world, to foster the innovation as well as the sustainable development of the UAE’s nuclear and sustainable energy sectors. A signing ceremony was attended by figures such as Nicolas Niemtchinow, Ambassador of the French Republic to the UAE, and Saud Abu Alshawareb, Executive Vice President of Industrial for TECOM Group PJSC on behalf of Dubai Industrial City. Fabtech’s Chairman, Dr. Harry Moraes, and Groupe M’s Chairman, Julien Monteiro, were among the other key executives from both companies to agree to sign the agreement.

Under the partnership, Fabtech also intends to expand the offer to its products in the nuclear sector by offering ‘Made in UAE’ products in the local and international market. Part of the collaboration will include the development of a fully integrated engineering and manufacturing followed by on site support to serve the nuclear and Sustained Energy fields in accordance with the long term objectives outlined in the UAE Energy Strategy 2050. A major expansion in the Middle East and the cementing of United Arab Emirates and French ties was what Pierre-Laurent Buch, Deputy CEO at Groupe M, referred to as the agreement opening. Furthermore, he said that Fabtech’s presence in Dubai Industrial City and its knowledge of the market tied in with Groupe M’s growth strategy of increasing its operations in the region especially in the fields of nuclear and new energy.

The partnership is a key moment in our growth strategy, and terms Fabtech Vice President, Fabien Jeoffroy, “An infrastructure conducive to the efficient movement of large scale components is associated with Dubai Industrial City.” He promises to foster innovation, especially in the low carbon nuclear energy area, and stated that the aim is to support environmentally friendly industrial growth through this collaboration. The agreement also spreads Fabtech upgrading of its existing 2.1 million sq ft facility at Dubai Industrial City in conformity with its sustainability and innovation commitments.

Part of nurturing this kind of knowledge and raising an industrial sector that is unique and will survive is unearthing homegrown knowledge, commented Saud Abu Alshawareb. The ecosystem at Dubai Industrial City has been developed to encourage innovators and the collaborations that have been created between Fabtech and Groupe M, he said. This partnership supports Dubai and the UAE’s visions for Operation 300bn, Make it in the Emirates, UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and Dubai Economic Agenda ‘D33’ as the leaders in the clean energy sector.

The agreement is bound upon the strong economic ties between the UAE and France, recording skyrocketed trade between the two nations. In discussions of successful partnerships and further cooperation in areas including renewables and nuclear energy, the officials met during the current UAE-France Strategic Dialogue. Founded in 2010, Fabtech Engineering is present in the domain of heavy engineering operations in multiple sectors, and the strategic alliance with Groupe M is meant to further drive this growth momentum for the former based on the successful tie-ups with partners from the energy sector.
