According to a report, a feature like live streaming a meeting appears to be another way Google is attempting to diversify and differentiate Meet from competing platforms.
New Delhi: The tech behemoth Google is giving its Meet app a new feature that will let users Livestream meetings to its streaming service YouTube. The business claims that an admin can do this by going to the meeting’s Activities panel and choosing “Live Streaming.” After choosing a channel, users can start streaming the meeting they are hosting, according to AndroidCentral. Live to stream, according to Google, “is useful in situations where users want to present information to large audiences outside of their organization, allowing them to pause and replay as necessary, or view the presentation at a later time.”
For live streaming on YouTube, a channel approval procedure is in place. Google cautions users to let them know that before they can do so through Google Meet, Livestream must first approve their channel. Only the host and co-hosts can start live-streaming the meeting when host management is enabled, according to its help page. Anyone present at the meeting may start live streaming it if that option is disabled. If someone wants to stream the meeting live, Google also offers a privacy option.

The rollout of the new feature will happen in phases. The first is “rapid release,” which will roll out to a few domains starting on July 21 and taking three days to complete. The second will apply to domains that will undergo a “scheduled release” over the course of up to 15 days starting on July 25.
