WhatsApp, a messaging service owned by Meta, is developing a feature that will allow users to continue receiving messages that vanish even after they have expired.
San Francisco: The messaging app WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is developing a feature that will allow users to continue receiving messages that vanish even after they have expired.
The disappearing messages can be seen in the chat information in a new section called “Kept messages,” which can be accessed by everyone in the conversation, according to a WABetaInfo report.
When a chat’s disappearing messages feature is enabled, messages can only be kept rather than starred.
According to the report, this feature is still in the works, but WhatsApp is currently working to introduce it by providing some details about an improvement to disappearing messages in a subsequent update of the WhatsApp Desktop beta.
The ability to keep a disappearing message will likely be toggled in a new privacy setting that WhatsApp will introduce to allow group admins to limit this feature.
It is unknown when this feature will be made available to beta testers because it is still being developed.
In addition, WhatsApp is developing a feature that will allow users to leave groups privately, excluding admins. However, a feature called “past participants” will still allow all group members to see who leaves the group.
