Indian skilling platform, Avodha lets its users learn different courses in vernacular languages
Taking a different trail in the way of providing services, Avodha, one of the largest skilling platforms, has been serving opportunities of availing its courses in vernacular languages. This startup not just provides courses in vernacular languages, but also considers its students’ financial status and thus, structures its fee in a way that is student-friendly.
Unlike most of the e-learning platforms, where courses are most commonly offered in the English language, Avodha stands out by presenting over 20 courses available in various regional languages including Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Telugu. Other than this, 6 courses are offered in Hindi.
What is Avodha e-learning?
With the pandemic taking its toll since last year, schools, colleges and other financial institutions are kept closed which is why students have now shifted from offline to online or e- learning platforms. Catering to the students’ needs, Avodha is handing out courses, especially for competitive and job- oriented exams, which can be availed online through mobile or a desktop. Courses are offered in vernacular languages which create a compatible environment for students from different regions to learn. Currently, the startup has more than 40,000 students who are availing its services, learning from professional educators.
Other than software courses like Game Development, Python and Django, Avodha has also stepped in to offer courses in the hardware segment. Online hardware skill development courses include electronic devices like mobile and laptop repair engineering.
What is Avodha’s fee structure?
The fee structure is student-friendly as the platform lets its students pay a small amount in advance which is around one-fourth of the total course-fee. Students pay the remaining amount only after they acquire the job referring to the course they studied through Avodha.
The founder of the Kochi-based startup, Joseph E George, informed that students are free to change their course in case they are yet to finish 30% of their selected course, without paying a single penny for it.
In this context, he said, “We don’t want money to be a barrier to students who are exploring their passion. Although each course costs Rs. 2,800 upfront. The rest can be settled once they find employment through their platform.”
Helping its students to land jobs which are best suited to them, Avodha has a separate job platform. Many well-known firms from the corporate field including Infosys, SBI Caps, Bank Of Baroda, TCS, etc. allow base-level jobs to the students.
