As per media reports, On Monday central government lifted the ban on the VLC Media Player website. Citizens of India can now avail the facilities provided by Media Player. Due to security concerns, the city government of India stopped the website this year.
VideoLan, the parent company, said “Early this year that it first noticed the ban on its app and Top websites in India in February 2022. VideoLan is a not-for-profit organization that runs and manages the operations of VLC Media Player.”
The company further declared that the reason to ban Media Player was not delivered. 30th September was the date when VideoLan sent a legal notice to the Department of Transportation to discover the reason behind this stoppage.
The notice states that VideoLan will sue the Indian Government to protect the rights guaranteed by the Indian Constitution. In a series of tweets, VideoLan asked for help from Indian citizens to lift the ban.
The VLC media player claims via its Twitter account that it has been banned since February in India without explanation. VideoLan’s president, Jean-Baptiste Kempf, attempted to defend his case “through virtual hearings.”
