Uttar Pradesh presently has 8 airports and is getting ready for 13 more airports and 7 more airstrips, which are still under development.
India’s most populated state is preparing itself for the highest number of airports that any state has ever seen. Uttar Pradesh has 8 airports in total and is set to welcome 13 new airports and 7 new airstrips. This statement comes ahead of the foundation laying ceremony of the Noida International Airport, by PM Modi on November 25.
After the foundation laying of the Noida International Airport, Uttar Pradesh will be set to have 5 international airports, which is more than any other state. It had only 2 international airports till 2012, at Varanasi and Lucknow. The third international airport was inaugurated by PM Modi at Kushinagar in October. The construction of the airport at Ayodhya is on a boost and will hopefully end very soon and the airport will become active. The fifth airport would be the Noida International Airport at Jewar, making Uttar Pradesh, a state with the most number of airports.
This is believed to have been an influence of our Prime Minister’s initiative called Gati Shakti National Master Plan, which works as a link and virtually, bring 16 different ministries (like railways, roadways etc.) together to help them coordinate better.
The Noida International Airport is near the town Jewar un the NCR region. It’s about 40km away from Noida and about 70km away from the IGI Airport in New Delhi.
The phase 1 of the airport has the capacity to hold about 12 million passengers. The construction of this phase is believed to come to an end in 36 months.
