Next year, the Assam government will conduct a large exercise called ‘Gunotsav’ to review over 46,000 schools and over 42 lakh children in two parts.
According to an official release, a meeting here on Sunday presided over by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma discussed the detailed structure for the exercise. It discussed the parameters for scholastic evaluation that would be carried out as part of the initiative, which will be carried out in two phases. The first part will take place from April 5-7, with the second phase taking place from April 20-22, according to the statement. ‘Gunotsav’ is a framework for enhancing the quality of elementary education that incorporates children’s learning outcomes, co-curricular activities, and resource use, as well as community participation.
Meanwhile, according to another official statement, the chief minister, who is also the Chancellor of Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences, attended the university’s fifth General Council Meeting on Sunday and discussed the university’s academic and administrative projects.
The General Council made a number of critical decisions aimed at improving the academic environment and establishing a solid administrative structure.
It also considered Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s idea to build a medical science curriculum in vernacular languages and tasked vice-chancellor Dr. Dhrubajyoti Bora with taking the appropriate steps.
The chief minister emphasized the university’s need for a permanent site in order to streamline its operations. He also requested that the institution concentrate on research that can be transferred from the lab to the field to serve the general public.
