The Smart Cities Mission, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), and Exhibitions India Group (EIG) jointly organized the 8th Smart Cities Expo and the 30th Convergence India, two of the largest tech and infrastructure expos in India.

Today’s closing ceremony for the awards for FinTech India Innovation Awards and Smart Cities India Awards successfully wrapped up the events. The event’s opening day was made special by the participation of Shri Nitin Gadkari, the government of India’s honorable union minister for roads and highways.
At the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, the expos hosted some 1,000 brands and 200 Indian start-ups and International Startups over the course of three days. In keeping with this year’s theme of “Innovation driving sustainability,” representatives from important ministries discussed ongoing “Digital India” initiatives, spokespeople for significant Indian and international brands discussed future plans, and representatives from cutting-edge startups displayed ideas for transforming India into a society and economy based on knowledge.
Among the important dignitaries present were Pradeep Singh Kharola, Chairman and Managing Director of ITPO and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry; H.E. Karel Hirman, Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic; V. Raghuandan, Secretary of TRAI; LT Gen. DR. SP Kochhar; and Arvind Bali, CEO, Telecom Sector Skill Council, to name a few.
42 powerful conference sessions featured more than 200 speakers. The event brought together public and private participants from a variety of sectors and locations under one roof, including startup founders and fans. The expo was a fantastic venue for networking and a meeting place for business opportunities because it was specifically designed for innovators, disruptors, and industry leaders who offered their ideas, knowledge, passion, and insights.
The Exhibitions India Group’s Managing Director, Ms. Chandrika Behl, stated: “Convergence India, now in its landmark 30th year, and Smart Cities India, now in its 8th year, carry on the tradition of being platforms that have accelerated nation-building and encouraged growth through opportunities in rapidly expanding digital technologies. Both occasions have given domestic brands a stage on which to present their initiatives in the fields of technology, smart cities, and start-ups. The expos provided a venue for foreign participants to establish new alliances and investigate the economic potential of India. At the 30th Convergence and 8th Smart Cities Expo, it was a joy to host industry heavyweights from the tech, telecom, start-up, and smart cities spaces.”
