After three months on the market, the iPhone 13 has begun its trial production run in India. Discover which variants are manufactured in India.
The iPhone 13 will now be labeled “Made in India”! According to a recent report, Apple has begun a three-month trial production run of the new iPhone 13 in India. This will include the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12, which are also made in the United States. Apple now manufactures 70% of its iPhone smartphones in India, thanks to the addition of the iPhone 13 to its manufacturing plans.
According to The Economic Times, Apple’s contract manufacturer Foxconn has started producing the iPhone 13 at its plant in Tamil Nadu, near Chennai. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 11 are also made in the same factory. However, industry insiders believe that this is just a test run, and that full-scale commercial production will begin in February 2022.
The iPhone 13 is now manufactured in India.
Despite the ongoing global chip shortage, Apple is said to have secured all of the chips required to begin local manufacturing of the iPhone 13. However, the Made in India label will not be applied to all iPhone 13 models.
The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini will be manufactured in India. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, which are more capable and expensive, will continue to be imported from elsewhere. Given that the iPhone 13 is the best-selling model in the iPhone 13 series, this makes sense for Apple.
Apple, on the other hand, continues to produce the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 in India because these models account for the majority of Apple’s sales on the subcontinent. Massive discounts on the iPhone 12 and iPhone X have been seen during recent festive sale events.
Wistron also produces the iPhone SE in its Bengaluru facility. It’s worth noting that Apple’s iPhone SE is currently the cheapest iPhone model available in India. In 2022, Apple is expected to update the iPhone SE for the year by incorporating a 5G chip from the iPhone 13. Apple is expected to release a completely new iPhone SE in 2023, which will most likely be based on the iPhone XR.
