IBM intends to establish its India development base at the IBM Lab in Kochi.

IBM is now a major supplier of information technology solutions and services. Mainframe computers, servers, software, consultancy, and finance are among the company’s goods and services. IBM is also a significant player in the cloud computing business.
According to a senior corporate executive, India intends to make its Kochi software lab a significant location in the nation to increase the development and delivery of next-generation software portfolio and cloud products.
In this regard, a high-level discussion was conducted with Kerala Industries Minister P. Rajeev and IBM India Senior Vice President (Products) Dinesh Nirmal.
The facility’s refurbishment comes a year after the US tech giant debuted its Software Lab here.
The cutting-edge global innovation hub at Infopark became the company’s sixth software lab in India, joining Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Pune.
Nirmal said IBM has opened its fifth software lab at Infopark in Kakkanad recently. “The center is focusing on hybrid cloud, product engineering, and the design and development of new products and solutions in the areas of data, AI, and automation. Our plan is to make Kochi IBM the development hub of the nation,” said Nirmal.
Kochi IBM’s employment has more than quadrupled from 750 in March to 1,500 today.
According to Rajeeve, with the IBM Lab in Kochi being the country’s primary hub, Malayali experts working in other nations would be able to return to Kerala. “Top global companies that use IBM software are likely to relocate to Kerala.” “Several AI and data software are being developed in Kerala and are being used by many companies around the world,” added the minister.
Meanwhile, it has been decided to award students from Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) and Kerala Technical University with a six-month paid internship. Students will be able to get international-level job experience while studying as a result of this.
