The official data from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation shows that in November, India’s domestic aviation passenger traffic climbed by 9.6% to over 1.27 crore. While it was still the biggest domestic carrier, IndiGo’s market share dropped from 62.6% in October to 61.8%. On the other hand, in November, no scheduled carrier had an On-Time performance score higher than 80%.
In November, the number of domestic air passengers increased by 9% to over 1.27 crore, as per the official data disclosed on Friday. Additionally, daily aviation traffic reached record highs on many occasions last month.
Although its market share decreased from 62.6% in October to 61.8% in November, IndiGo continued to be the top domestic carrier in the nation.
On-time performance (OTP) scores of more than 80% were, however, not achieved by any of the scheduled carriers in November.
Airlines carried 1.27 crore passengers in November, up from 1.17 crore during the same month last year, according to official data issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Friday.
On an annual basis, this represents a rise of 9.06 percent.
“Passengers carried by domestic airlines during January-November 2023 were 1,382.34 lakhs, as against 1,105.10 lakhs during the corresponding period of the previous year, thereby registering an annual growth of 25.09 percent and a monthly growth of 9.06 percent,” stated the DGCA.
SpiceJet increased its share in the domestic market from 5% in October to 6.2% in November. Its OTP was 41.8% during the previous month.
November saw no change in Air India’s domestic market share of 10.5%, while Vistara’s share decreased slightly to 9.4% during the same month.
In November, the percentages of AIX Connect and Akasa Air stayed at 4.2% and 6.6%, respectively.
The data shows that Vistara at 72.8%, IndiGo at 77.5 percent, and Akasa Air at 78.2 percent topped the OTP ranking.
The OTP for Air India was 62.5 percent, compared to 67.1 percent and 69.7 percent for AIX Connect and Alliance Air, respectively.
Four major airports are used to calculate the On-Time performance (OTP) of scheduled domestic airlines: Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
