Indian Startup Funding Flat in H1 2024

The funding environment remained pretty stable for the Indian startup ecosystem in the first half of 2024, with investment flows remaining steady compared to the corresponding period a year ago.

According to reports by various news articles,‌ about $5.3 billion has been infused into Indian startups in H1 2024—registering a year-on-year flat growth.

This sector-wise funding distribution, therefore, reflects the shifting nature of the Indian startup space.

Retail technology startups reaped the biggest gains with $1.63 billion in funding in H1 2024, a year-over-year rise of 32.5%.

In contrast, funding to fintech startups nose-dived and declined by 57% YoY to $726 mn in H1 2024.

The funding amount varied greatly according to the stage in which a startup was in its development.
