ABB India will offer automation and control solutions for the 130 km-long Indo-Bangla Friendship Pipeline (IBFPL), which transports diesel from India to Bangladesh. It will be possible to remotely monitor the pipeline’s flow, pressure, temperature, and leaks thanks to ABB’s SCADAvantage, Remote Terminal Units, and leak detection system.
With a possible capacity of one million metric tonnes annually, the programme will be able to provide Bangladesh with access to significant amounts of energy while also generating reports, history sheets, vital warnings, and alarms that will improve efficiency and safety.
The 130-kilometre Indo-Bangla Friendship Pipeline (IBFPL), which transports diesel from India to Bangladesh, will be able to function safely, securely, and dependably thanks to the comprehensive automation and control systems provided by ABB India, according to a corporate filing with the stock exchange.
On March 18, the cross-border pipeline was officially inaugurated by Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Bangladesh will be able to receive a sizable amount of electricity to meet its growing domestic demand thanks to its potential capacity of one million metric tonnes per year (MMTPA).
Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. (NRL) will be able to remotely monitor and manage important pipeline parameters like flow, pressure, and temperature, as well as detect leaks, thanks to ABB India Ability SCADAvantage, remote terminal units (RTUs), and leak detection systems.
By creating reports, history sheets, critical warnings, and alarms, among other things, ABB solutions will maximise efficiency and safety while providing real-time data on the functioning of the pipeline network.
To get the diesel to the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation’s oil depot in Parbatipur, it will be transported from NRL’s marketing terminal in Siliguri.
The pipeline, which would be the first of its kind to run between the two nations, will be located in Bangladeshi territory for most of its length and in India for around 6 kilometres of it.
It is an honour for us to collaborate with NRL on this significant project that will be necessary to guarantee Bangladesh’s access to dependable fuel. According to G. Balaji, SVP, Head of Energy Industries, ABB India, the operators would have access to real-time data and be able to make better decisions as a result of the safe and dependable monitoring of the pipeline network by the ABB Ability SCADAvantage system.
Oil pipelines and facilities must be constantly monitored, maintained, and ensured to be efficient and secure, which requires a high degree of talent and resources as automation and technology are used more and more in the energy sector. ABB (ASEA Brown Boveri) India is dedicated to meeting these changing demands.
Rahul Goswami, Chief Manager of Projects at Numaligarh Refinery Ltd., said that thanks to ABB’s technology, the company can effectively monitor and optimise its pipeline operations by providing real-time data, thorough analysis, and quick responses.
ABB is a trusted partner in the automation industry, and their prior work on projects that were in the pipeline across several nations proved useful.
