Pure Ice Cream, the maker of Kwality Ice Creams and Hershey’s Ice Cream and other brands, announced that it inaugurated its first production facility in Dubai Industrial City. The AED 80 musataha was signed by Pure Ice Cream and was announced by the company in SIAL Paris 2024, an international food show, from 19-23 October.

The new facility will be located in the food and beverage zone of the Dubai Industrial City, a premier manufacturing hub in the region. It will cover a land area of 246,000 sq. ft., with a built-up area of 160,000 sq. ft – one of the largest ice-cream manufacturing facilities in the UAE when it is completed and due to become fully operational by 2026 – will boost the capacity of Pure Ice Cream by 300 percent, or to 30 million litres per year, which will give the company an opportunity to expand its presence across the region and internationally.

Pure Ice Cream is a UAE-based company. The flagship Kwality Ice Creams brand is marketed through over 8,000 retail outlets in the UAE, GCC, and African markets, including Tanzania and Ethiopia. The company plans to consolidate its position in F&B manufacturing while supporting the UAE National Food Security Strategy 2051.

Saud Abu Alshawareb, EVP TECOM Group PJSC, welcomed Pure Ice Cream to Dubai Industrial City, stating that the project is aligned with national economic strategies and supports the F&B sector. He told me that a self-sustaining sector is really the key to the future of the UAE economy.

Vikram Seth, Managing Director at Pure Ice Cream Co LLC., said that the new facility brings strategic benefits while its proximity to major transport networks and world-class infrastructure would help the facility reach its goals of managing higher volumes of production as well as open new business opportunities in the GCC, USA, Africa, and Southeast Asia.

The facility will host sophisticated fully and semi-automated manufacturing systems and will create more than 300 jobs in the specialised area. The plant is also committed to sustainability by following the ISO 14001 environmental standards as well as FSSC22000 food safety certifications.

Dubai Industrial City is at the heart of TECOM Group’s initiative in 2004, which has now become home to over 1,000 customers and more than 300 operational factories. In 2023 alone, 12 new F&B customers joined the district, combining investment valued at AED 800 million. Strategically located close to main transport networks-Al Maktoum International Airport, Jebel Ali Port, Etihad Rail-and major regional highways, the hub has attracted manufacturers as well as logistics companies to its location.

Pure Ice Cream will be the newest addition to the district, further cementing Dubai Industrial City as a prime player in the UAE’s manufacturing sector toward long-term economic growth and sustainability.
