The airline announced that its designer, Manish Malhotra, has also created footwear that is both stylish and comfortable.
Manish Malhotra designed the most recent set of uniforms that the private airline Air India unveiled on Tuesday for the cabin and cockpit crew.
The new uniforms will be phased in over the next several months, beginning with Air India’s first Airbus A350 aircraft going into service, the company said in a statement.
According to PTI, Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air India, stated, “We firmly believe that Manish Malhotra’s innovative ensemble will script an exciting new chapter for Air India’s future narrative.” Air India’s crew uniforms are among the most storied in aviation history.
Among other things, he noted, the crew’s new uniform wonderfully embodies the ethos of the airline’s new character.
According to Air India, the female cabin crew members are dressed in an easy-to-wear ombre saree with elaborate designs evoking Indian heritage architecture (jharokha) and the Vista (the new Air India trademark image), combined with a cozy blouse and blazer.
“My aim was to design uniforms that capture the true spirit of India’s diverse traditions and cultures while also incarnating a modern and sophisticated look. “By incorporating quintessential hues that are symbolic to India, I hope that these uniforms not only make the crew feel proud but also leave a lasting impression on the guests, representing the warmth and hospitality that India is known for,” Malhotra added.
The recently announced uniform designs, according to Air India, were the product of a joint effort that included input from the airline’s in-flight services team as well as representatives of the cabin crew. They conducted extensive testing to ensure the new designs were appropriate. The classic black double-breasted suit worn by the cockpit crew is patterned after a Vista, signifying professionalism, classic style, and the high regard for the aviation industry.
The airline announced that its designer, Manish Malhotra, has also created footwear that is both stylish and comfortable. The male and female cabin staff members will be dressed in casual black brogues and dual-tone block heels in black and burgundy.
