The statement states that passengers of AirAsia India will get access to over 1,000 international and Indian movies. The partnership between AirAsia India and SugarBox, a cloud technology firm, is working to provide in-flight wifi service to passengers on board.
According to a joint statement, the service will give AirAsia India passengers access to more than 1,000 international and Indian films. Content includes short movies, web series episodes, and bufferless streaming content delivered from OTT applications on the in-flight system.
The experience of in-flight movies is stated as ‘Airflix’, which will be available to all travelers through local in-flight wifi at no additional cost. It will help generate ancillary revenue for the airline “by unlocking an in-air digital economy through commerce and Ads,” the statement said.
Rohit Paranjpe, co-founder of the cloud technology firm- SugarBox declared the release of Airflix in 28 different Indian aircraft. “The service has been launched with a storage capacity of 8 terabytes; it will provide a download speed of up to 1 gigabit per second to customers for accessing content,” the statement said.
AirAsia India’s Chief Marketing Officer Siddhartha Butalia said that “The company was looking forward to leveraging the potential of this platform, introducing innovative features and technological integrations even beyond in-flight dining, entertainment, and shopping.”
The concept, he says, is to deliver a personalized experience that offers a unique and differentiated flying experience in a competitive marketplace.
