Devika Bulchandani joins a lengthy list of prominent corporate titans with Indian ancestry who are in charge of multinational corporations. The world’s largest coffee company, Starbucks, named Laxman Narasimhan as its CEO last week.
Indian-born Devika Bulchandani has been chosen as the global CEO of advertising and public relations firm Ogilvy. The business stated that Bulchandani, who has been acting as Global President and CEO of Ogilvy North America, follows Andy Main, who is stepping down as Global CEO and will continue to serve as a Senior Advisor through the end of the year.
She will oversee all business operations for the creative network’s advertising, public relations, experience, consulting, and health sections in her new position, which spans 131 offices in 93 countries, it was stated.
“David Ogilvy spoke of giants, and Devika genuinely is one of the titans of our field.”
Today, we have the privilege of announcing that Devika Bulchandani will succeed Andy Main as our next global CEO.
The world’s top marketing and communications company, WPP, includes Ogilvy. As she assumes her new position, Bulchandani will also become a member of WPP’s Executive Committee, the business announced.
WPP CEO Mark Read praised Devika as a “champion of creativity” who approaches everything she does with passion, purpose, and an unwavering focus on producing impact.
She is the ideal candidate to take Ogilvy to even greater success because of her passion for the business, in-depth knowledge of clients’ demands, and track record of generating growth for agencies and brands, he continued.
Bulchandani, often known as Dev in the business, has achieved some of her biggest successes “at the nexus of the social issues she supports and brand-building efforts on behalf of customers.”
According to the statement, she was the inspiration behind Mastercard’s long-running “Priceless” campaign and “True Name,” a feature introduced in 2019 that enables transgender and non-binary persons to display their preferred name on their Mastercard.
