Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, declared that the Bengaluru to Chennai Expressway project, which will cost a total of INR 17,000 crore, will be finished by March 2024. Travelers between these two cities will have a new, quicker route thanks to this greenfield project.
After touring the 285.3 km four-lane project at Vadaganahalli in Hoskote on the outskirts of the city, Gadkari told reporters that it will save travel time.
The Minister continued, “This will also assist reduce delays when going through big towns and crowded areas.”
The cost of the 71.7 km long Bharatmala project in Karnataka is Rs 5,069 crore, according to Gadkari.
“By building this route, we will save money on logistics. There are 231 km of building already in progress. We aim to complete this project by March 2024 “he added.
Gadkari claimed that this project involves forest land, and he has spoken to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai regarding all necessary approvals.
He added that an Amrit Sarovar and an Amrit Mahotsav Bird Sanctuary will also be built along this length.
The Union Minister stated that the Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by the end of the month. When the project is finished, the travel time will be cut by one hour and ten minutes.
According to Gadkari, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) would also work on deepening lakes as part of water conservation. Due to the high land value, he noted that land acquisition is a significant difficulty for the NHAI.
Gadkari suggested satellite townships along these routes to reduce traffic congestion and pollution in Bengaluru.
He claims that 8,005 km of projects totaling Rs 2 lakh crore are being undertaken by the NHAI in Karnataka.
