Nowadays, Bollywood actors and actresses do much more than acting in movies or web series. They do brand endorsements, promotions, writing books, stepping towards the direction and investing in various ventures, and the list goes on. Let us look at some actresses who have proven their acting prowess and have started their own production houses.
Taapsee Pannu, Outsiders Films
Actress Taapsee Pannu who has starred in movies like Pink, Badla, Baby, and more started her own production house with the name Outsiders Films. She started her venture to provide a platform to the people who have no connections in the film industry hence came out with the name Outsiders Films. She also announced the first movie project under her production house named Blurr, which will be directed by Ajay Bahl who directed the acclaimed movie Section 375.
Priyanka Chopra, Purple Pebble Pictures
The powerhouse Priyanka Chopra is no less than a busy bee right now. With new personal beginnings and professional commitments, she has a lot in store for the upcoming years. Based in Mumbai and Los Angeles, PeeCee started Purple Pebble Pictures with her mother Dr. Madhu Chopra, together they have produced a plethora of ventures in different languages like Marathi, Punjabi, Bengali. Her Marathi movie, Ventilator which was a comedy-drama bagged 3 national awards in 2016. They have also produced movies like The Sky is Pink, Firebrand, and The White Tiger.
Deepika Padukone, KA Entertainment
Deepika Padukone has been one of the famous names and has given us acclaimed movies like Piku, Bajirao Mastani, Padmavat, Chapak, etc. She launched her production in 2018 by the name of KA Entertainment, along with KA Enterprises LLP, an investment firm spearheaded by her. She said in an interview that she always wanted to indulge in the line of production and envisioned investing in projects that will impact people. Her venture Chapaak was well appreciated by the critics and audience.
Anushka Sharma, Clean Slate Filmz
Anushka Sharma along with her brother Karnesh Sharma launched a production house named Clean Slate Films. Her production house made movies like Pari, Phillauri, and NH-10. They have also produced the OTT series Pataal Lok and Bulbul. Their next venture will be Chakda Xpress, a biopic on Indian-cricketer Jhulan Goswami, with Anushka Sharma playing the titular role.
Dia Mirza, Born Free Entertainment
Dia Mirza launched her own production house, Born Free Entertainment in 2011. With her production house, she has produced Vidya Balan starrer Bobby Jasoos and OTT release Mind The Malhotras.
Kangana Ranaut, Manikarnika Films
Kangana Ranaut started her own production house by the name of Manikarnika Films. She has also announced her first venture Tiku weds Sheru with Nawazuddin Siddique as the leading man. Calling Nawaz as one of the best actors in the industry, she said she was privileged to have Nawaz and welcomed him to the team. However, it is not certain whether she will star in the movie or not.
Twinkle Khanna, Hari Om Entertainment
After a not-so-successful career in Bollywood, Twinkle Khanna gained the limelight in her second innings through her writing ability. She wrote Mrs. Funnybones in 2015, which gained appreciation internationally as well. She launched Hari Om Entertainment along with her husband, actor Akshay Kumar. They produced Padman, which was a box office hit.
Madhuri Dixit, RnM Moving Pictures
Madhuri Dixit is making her comeback with an OTT release The Fame Game on Netflix. She launched RnM Moving Pictures alongside her husband Dr. Nene. Her production house has produced projects like Bucket List, Ventilator (with Priyanka Chopra’s production house), and 15 August.
Tisca Chopra, Fursat Films LLP
Known for her profound acting, Tisca Chopra began her own production house Fursat Films LLP on 20th February 2020. She produced the famous short film Chutney. She was featured in the short film and was also the writer of the script.
