BPSC 68th CCE: The modifications include a score cut for the Mains optional paper and negative marking for every question in the Prelims exam.
BPSC 68th CCE: On Tuesday, the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) announced significant changes to the question format and grading system for the 68th Combined Competitive Examination (BPSC 68th CCE Prelims, Mains), including a reduction in the number of points awarded for the Mains exam’s optional paper and the introduction of negative marking for all of the Prelims exam’s questions.
According to the official announcement, the optional paper would only be worth 100 points instead of 300 in the Mains exam.
The commission added that the Mains exam’s optional paper will be composed of multiple-choice questions (MCQ).
The 68th Mains’ marking scheme will therefore be as follows:
General Hindi: 100
General Studies 1: 300
General Studies 2: 300
Essay: 300
Optional paper: 100
Only the general studies 1, 2, and essay paper will be taken into account, even if qualifying in the general Hindi category is a requirement for all candidates.
This implies that the merit of the optional paper will also not be taken into account.
However, according to the BPSC announcement, passing the optional paper is a requirement for all applicants.
Negative marking is now applied to every question in the Prelims exam.
“All 150 questions should receive consistently negative marking. According to BPSC, there would be one mark awarded for a correct response and one-fourth for a mistaken one in this situation.
Accordingly, applicants will receive 1 mark for each correct answer in the Prelims exam, but 0.25 marks will be subtracted for each erroneous response.
The 68th Prelims exam application date has also been extended by BPSC in the meantime. On bpsc.bih.nic.in, candidates may now apply through December 30.
