L&T Technology Services has made a grand entrance into the private 5G network realm by joining forces with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in a highly strategic partnership. This groundbreaking collaboration aims to empower global enterprises in their pursuit of private 5G network deployments, further propelling their digital transformation endeavors.
In a synchronized agreement between the two companies, BSNL will facilitate the provision of spectrum through the utilization of the public land mobile network (PLMN) and isolated allotment. Concurrently, LTTS will leverage its expertise to deploy an extensive array of equipment, applications, servers, technology, and software. Additionally, LTTS will integrate these components with the customer’s ecosystem, effectively synchronizing devices and sensors.
BSNL, assuming the mantle of the official network provider, will work alongside LTTS to co-innovate and introduce private 5G connectivity solutions to the market. This partnership marks a significant milestone for LTTS, as it marks its inaugural entry into the 5G private network space. The fusion of both organizations’ complementary networks and digital capabilities creates an ideal offering for enterprises.
Expressing their anticipation, Amit Chadha, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) of L&T Technology Services, articulated, “This partnership is a perfect-fit offering to enterprises with complementary network & digital capabilities coming from both organizations.”
In a statement released by LTTS, BSNL conveyed their sentiments, stating, “This strategic partnership with LTTS will allow us to support global organizations in their digital transformation endeavors. 5G is the next Big Enabler which can positively benefit the lives of millions of end-users, and we expect rapid adoption of private networks across multiple use cases and major industries.”
The global private 5G market, as projected by the International Data Corp (IDC), is anticipated to surpass $8 billion by 2026, boasting a compound annual growth rate of 35.7% from 2022 onwards. In India, the demand for Non-Public Networks (NPN) has witnessed a notable surge, owing to the allure of faster connection speeds and reduced latency.
Notably, the Indian government has opted against directly allocating spectrum to companies seeking to establish their own captive 5G networks. Consequently, these companies must acquire the necessary airwaves through auctions or consider alternative arrangements such as leasing spectrum from telecommunication companies possessing 5G airwaves. In this regard, LTTS has also formed partnerships with Nvidia and open-source provider Mavenir in Europe for private 5G networks, while in the United States, it has collaborated with Qualcomm.
