On Tuesday, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai inaugurated a convention for the beneficiaries of State and Union Government schemes in Ilkal, Hungund Assembly constituency. During the event, he highlighted the various developmental initiatives of the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, claiming that the record development in the fields of agriculture and industry is a direct result of the government’s efforts.
The Chief Minister stated that the Karnataka government has initiated irrigation projects worth Rs 2,800 crores to facilitate farmers in the Krishna basin. He also noted that Hungund, an important center known for Ilkal sarees, is contributing significantly to the international market through its granite exports.
Bommai further added that the Kisan Sanman scheme has reached 36,598 farmers in Hungund taluk, and the second installment of the scheme, amounting to Rs 975 crore, has already been transferred directly to the bank accounts of 47 lakh farmers. He also emphasized that the government has been committed to ensuring that development is not done in a discriminatory manner and that justice has been served to all communities.
During a recent speech, the Chief Minister of Karnataka highlighted various developmental schemes that have been implemented by the BJP government. One such initiative is the Bhagyalakshmi scheme, which has benefited minorities, and the Chief Minister credited his predecessor, BS Yediyurappa, for its success. Additionally, the government has allocated Rs 30,000 crore for the SCSP/TSP act, which aims to uplift scheduled castes and tribes in the state. As part of this initiative, the government is constructing 100 Ambedkar and 50 Kanakadasa hostels, with plans to establish five mega hostels in the future.
To support the education of underprivileged students, the government has reserved additional grants to provide hostel facilities to over one lakh students. This is a crucial step towards reducing the educational gap between privileged and underprivileged children. The government is also focused on irrigation projects and has implemented the Kisan Sanman scheme to support farmers in the state.
