Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched the Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express during a video conference on Thursday. The prime minister highlighted India’s remarkable economic growth despite numerous challenges and expressed that the world held great respect for the country. The event also marked the dedication of fully electrified railway tracks in the state.
The newly introduced Vande Bharat Express is the first train of its kind for Uttarakhand and offers advanced passenger amenities. It reduces the travel time between Dehradun and Delhi to four and a half hours, down from six hours and ten minutes on the Shatabdi Express.
PM Modi commended the efforts of the “double-engine government” in Uttarakhand, led by the BJP, for undertaking various road and railway projects to enhance connectivity. He specifically mentioned initiatives to improve facilities for Chardham pilgrims through renovation works in Kedarnath and Badrinath, as well as efforts to enhance the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the new asset that would enhance communication between Dehradun and Delhi.
Normal service for the Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express will commence on May 29, according to the IRCTC website. The train will cover a distance of 302 kilometers in four hours and 45 minutes, operating every day except Wednesdays.
The ticket prices for the Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express are Rs 1,065 for an AC chair vehicle and Rs 1,890 for an executive chair car.
The schedule for the 22457 Delhi (Anand Vihar) to Dehradun Vande Bharat Express includes departure from Anand Vihar at 5:50 p.m. and arrival in Dehradun at 10:35 p.m., with stops at Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Roorkee, and Haridwar.
The schedule for the 22458 Dehradun to Delhi Vande Bharat Express comprises departure from Dehradun at 7 a.m. and arrival in Delhi at 11:45 a.m., with stops at Haridwar, Roorkee, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut City, and Anand Vihar.
