Strategic Vision and Economic Impact

Digital Dubai carried out a comprehensive scan of the existing landscape and noted strong potential for collaboration among key stakeholders toward data centres with a focus on artificial intelligence. This strategic vision is forecasted to deliver more than AED 14.3 billion in added value by 2028 and thousands of newly created jobs within the data centres’ digital economy.

Enhancing Technological Readiness

The strategic vision is expected to fortify Dubai’s preparedness toward the next level of technology, such as Web 3.0, the Metaverse, Smart Cities, and the Internet of Things. It also targets cross-sector associations to build a common front in areas such as sustainable artificial intelligence.

It operates in close cooperation with the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, and Dubai Municipal General Secretariat of the Executive Council. Through extended cooperation within these organisations, Digital Dubai supports Dubai’s readiness to lead the future economy through a digitally competitive edge.

Initiatives for Digital Leadership

The strategic vision for AI-backed data centres is part of the huge change in digital leadership and the digital economy. Some of the crucial initiatives in the vision include:

Development of High-Performance Computing: To be able to enhance the capability of computing infrastructure.

Advanced use of Data Centre: To ensure the deployment of state-of-the-art data centres.

Integration of Renewable Energy: Increasing dependence on renewable energy sources.

Facilitation of Government Procedure: To smoothen the relevant processes of the government.

Improving Energy Efficiency: Enhancing energy-saving and access to renewable energy.

Comprehensive Coordination: The role of the government regarding planning and resource allocation shall be reinvigorated.

These initiatives also further fortify Dubai’s position in terms of readiness regarding artificial intelligence. It will finally lead to comprehensive integration and coordination of different entities involved in the digital sector.

Leadership and Competitive Edge

Another key point brought out by Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, the Director-General of Digital Dubai, was the competitive advantages that rank the UAE as a global leader in building and operating sustainable data centres. He emphasised the fact that the digital economy is a core part of the overall digital strategy for Dubai, ultimately targeting the addition of US$ 100 bln to the emirate’s overall economy.

According to Younus Al Nasser, Chief Executive of the Dubai Data and Statistics Establishment, changing global economic scenarios have been opening new avenues for vibrant economies like Dubai. He mentioned, “One such transformation is epitomised in a data centre economy, where Dubai stands at the forefront in the global digital economy.”

Hadi Badri, the CEO of Dubai Economic Development Corporation, lauded the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He was critical that the transformative approach toward an AI-driven data centre economy will shore up Dubai’s lead in a sector that has changed drastically in a very short period. That will keep Dubai ready for next-generation technologies, innovative, and unleash great economic potential in line with the D33 Agenda.

Future Integration and Cloud Computing

The next big thing in this drive is going to be comprehensive integration of all stakeholders under the umbrella of the Data Centre Economy. Digital Dubai is currently working on increasing the adoption of cloud computing within the government sector. This is part of a broader push to increase the level of digital infrastructure and readiness across sectors in Dubai.

Digital Dubai’s implementation of the Strategic Vision for the AI-Backed Data Centre Economy marks a significant milestone in the emirate’s journey towards becoming a global leader in the digital economy. Through coordinated efforts, innovative initiatives, and strategic partnerships, Dubai is well-positioned to harness the full potential of next-generation technologies and drive substantial economic growth.
