On Monday, the Delhi Metro Rail Corp. and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) signed a contract to offer metro tickets using QR codes on their respective platforms. Both IRCTC and DMRC passengers are expected to gain from the project.
“Pursuant to Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, this is to inform you that IRCTC has signed an MoU with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on August 14, 2023, for providing QR code-based DMRC tickets through IRCTC Platform,” IRCTC said in the press release.
It further read, “This innovative initiative is set to benefit passengers of both IRCTC and DMRC by streamlining the travel experience and reducing the time spent in queues at stations.”
After IRCTC released its first-quarter financial-year results, the announcement was made. The profit was 232.22 crore, a 5% decrease from the previous year (YoY). The corporation made 279 crore in profit during the final three months of the previous fiscal year.
According to sector performance, IRCTC’s income from the online ticketing business decreased by 4% to 290 crore in the April–June quarter from 302 crore in the corresponding quarter the year before, a decrease of 4%.
From 82 crore in the same quarter last year to 130 crore in the June quarter, the revenue from the tourist industry increased by 58 percent.
During the June quarter, the catering segment’s revenue increased 35% to Rs. 471 crore from Rs. 352 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Additionally, revenue from the rail near sector increased by 10% to 96 crore in the reviewed quarter compared to 87 crore in the same quarter previous year.
When compared to the same quarter a year prior, when operating revenue stood at 852.6 crore, the June quarter saw an increase of 17% to 1,001 crore.
