The project is slated to cover all of the way from its junction with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road through Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, and finally to Emirates Road. This involves the construction of five main junctions, 13,500 meters of bridges, and 12,900 meters of road. These will expand the ability of the road while ensuring a steady connection across some of the densest in population and fastest-growing neighborhoods in Dubai.
Once construction on the Al Fay Street Development Project is completed, traffic capacity is expected to ramp up to 64,400 vehicles per hour. This is anticipated to decongest traffic, producing smooth and well-managed vehicular flow for residents and commuters. It means a enhanced road network can accommodate around 600,000 population and visitors, representing the extensive scope of influence the project may have on local communities and future transportation in Dubai as a whole.
According to Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, this project is vital to the enhancement of Dubai’s strategic road network. He expressed that “the Al Fay Street Development Project reflects a major initiative in the Dubai road infrastructure that introduces a new strategic corridor in the strategic route of the emirate, greatly promoting east-west connectivity. Al Fay Street, an extension of Al Khail Roads, passes through Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to Emirates Road.”
The development will cover a wide range of major residential and commercial areas, including Dubai Sports City, Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai Production City, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Tilal Al Ghaf, DAMAC Lagoons, The Oasis, and Remraam. The project, which opens the way for direct and uninterrupted traffic flow from Al Khail Road to Emirates Road, will enhance mobility for residential and commuter movements between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road.
In addition, the upgraded infrastructure will ensure sustainable and efficient flow of traffic across all vehicular users safely. This shows that it is timely to develop all the areas being serviced with the ongoing developments and increase in population growth in a way that reinforces the necessity of such a huge-scale investment in the transportation network of Dubai.
The Al Fay Street Development Project is not only a continuation of Dubai’s enthusiasm to build world-class infrastructure but also a sustainable building strategy to enhance the quality of life for its residents. It builds upon a broader vision that reinforces the emirate’s role as a hub of business, tourism, and innovation in the world. RTA and various related organizations continue to the development of Dubai’s city landscape for the future by making connectivity and movement of traffic a priority.
This investment is intended to show Dubai’s commitment to establishing a modern, integrated, and efficient transportation network capable of responding to the city’s needs, constantly pushes forward reliable and efficient choices.
