Dubai Chambers has concluded a series of six legal workshops conducted online and in-person, meant to enhance the capacity of businesses within Dubai to better comply with key laws and regulations governing multiple sectors. More than 283 private sector participants had attended the events, with topics including cybersecurity, regulations on virtual assets, the UAE labor law, intellectual property, artificial intelligence, securities regulations, and corporate governance.

Workshops On Important Legal Topics
The first workshop, in collaboration with United Trademark and Patent Services, was organized in the theme of interaction of artificial intelligence with intellectual property. It brought into prominence the legal challenges in this regard related to ownership and protection of AI-generated creations. The participants were given an overview of this emerging field.
The second session will engage a collaboration with KPMG Lower Gulf, in order to lay emphasis on the updates relating to new SCA regulations, giving importance to the factors involved internal controls, corporate governance and risk management with great care for the Public JCs operating within the UEA.
The third workshop, which involved Kreston ME Consulting and Galadari Advocates & Legal Consultants, covered regulatory cybersecurity requirements and the legal implications of non-compliance. Participants were guided through the process of aligning with the Dubai Cybersecurity Strategy and developing strategies to safeguard their organizations.
This involved a session with Governance Dynamics and Watson Farley & Williams (Middle East) on corporate governance, risk, and compliance and how the three interlock to help make organizations more resilient while inculcating good ethics within an organization.
Sector-specific Compliance Guidelines
A comprehensive tour of the UAE labour employment requirements was made during the workshop conducted in association with Fragomen UAE and Gateley UK (DMCC Branch). Discussions were based around visa requirements, the methods of recruitment, and salient aspects of the various employment regulations that can determine Labour Compliances in that geography.
This consisted of the sixth workshop by Afridi & Angell on licensing and regulation in virtual asset businesses in Dubai. The participants learned about the role of the Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority and best practices to comply with the emirate’s regulatory framework.
