This year’s Summit marks the 10th iteration of the yearly international assembly for investors with an interest in the state. The CEO and founder of Tesla, Elon Musk, is probably going to make an appearance to declare the EV manufacturer’s arrival in India. The EV manufacturer is reportedly nearing the end of negotiations with the government to get land on which to locate its manufacturing facility, according to reports from a number of state media outlets.
Gujarat has been a key place for the business environment for many years. Automakers such as Maruti Suzuki and others already have production facilities in the state. The Ahmedabad Mirror article suggests that Sanand, Becharaji, and Dholera could be the locations of the Tesla manufacturing plant.
The Gujarat government is upbeat about the chances of Tesla’s involvement in Gujarat ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat conference, which is set for January 2024. Speaking as a spokesperson for the government, Rushikesh Patel Patel, the minister of health in Gujarat, drew a comparison between Elon Musk’s vision and the state’s objectives.
Speaking at a Cabinet briefing on Thursday, Minister Patel emphasized the government’s welcoming attitude and voiced a great deal of optimism that Tesla CEO Elon Musk will take Gujarat into consideration for investment.
Patel greeted Elon Musk warmly and acknowledged that talks with Tesla were still ongoing, indicating that the state was keen to help with the investment process.
The Health Minister stressed that there is active communication going on, which reflects how serious the talks are about Tesla possibly investing in Gujarat.
As to the reports released by Gujarat Samachar and other official media channels, Sanand is the likely location for Tesla’s production facility. This is also where automakers like Tata Motors are located. Several additional Indian automakers, like MG Motor and Maruti Suzuki, are based in Gujarat.
