News story titles will no longer be displayed on Elon Musk’s social media network X (previously Twitter) in order to promote more interesting submissions. In order to increase their pay, Musk also urges journalists to publish directly on the platform.
News story headlines will soon no longer be displayed on Elon Musk’s social media network X (previously Twitter). According to the new modifications, articles will now just display a headline and a URL on users’ timelines, and users will have to add their own descriptions above posts.
The headline and other information should be removed from posts in order to make them more “engaging,” according to a Fortune report. Elon Musk, the owner of X, is reportedly the one pushing for the new shift, according to the story.
Musk acknowledged the recent report in a response to a post by X News Daily. This is directly from me, he wrote. radically enhances the aesthetics.
Oddly, Musk also urged journalists to write about X in order to increase their revenue. He wrote, “Publish directly on this platform if you’re a journalist who wants more freedom to write and a higher income!”
According to insiders cited in the Fortune piece, Musk thinks that articles take up too much room on a user’s timeline.
With the new update, X will be able to limit the height of tweets, allowing more items to fit on the same timeline while also helping to reduce clickbait.
A new story has traditionally appeared as a “card” on a user’s timeline, which consists of a picture, a succinct title, and a description. As the information included in the card was exempt from the 140-character limit, the format was created when the tweet limit on X was set at that length. As a result, it became a popular method of information exchange on Twitter.
The firm may want journalists and media organizations to pay to advertise their stories on the social media network as Twitter/X already permits Blue subscribers to compose tweets with up to 25,000 characters.
