5G smartphones have been overseeing the sale of mobile phones in India this festive season.
According to industry professionals and analysts, nearly two out of every five gadgets sold on festive sales, both online and offline, in the initial week were 5G equipable, marking the highest market share for 5G phones in India in any given interval.
In the previous quarter (April-June), the 5G smartphone shipment stake reached 29% of overall shipments, which was the biggest ever, as per a Counterpoint Research report. Samsung led the 5G smartphone segment with a 25% share.
Just like Xiaomi, Shenzhen-based Realme previously came up with Realme 9 5G with a starting price of Rs 14,999. Similarly, the Vivo T1 5G, launched in India earlier this year, delivered at a starting price of Rs 15,990. Which are the entry level 5g smartphones.
OnePlus continued strongly in 5G smartphone shipments in the previous quarter owing to its 100% 5G portfolio, according to Counterpoint Research. “We have been working towards gearing up for 5G since 2016 and invested nearly $30 million to scale up 5G R&D labs, showcasing our commitment to bringing 5G technology to more users worldwide,” a senior spokesperson at OnePlus said, adding, “As a result, OnePlus has been among the fastest in the industry to bring 5G devices to its community.”
The festive season which business stakeholders count as five weeks from the last week of September to the end of October every year is the most important period for India’s smartphone industry. These five weeks account for almost one-fifth of the entire year’s smartphone sales, thus making it a significant period for brands.
