In order to meet demand over the holiday season, homegrown e-commerce platform Flipkart announced on Monday that it plans to generate more than 1 lakh seasonal job openings throughout its supply chain.

In the very competitive e-commerce business, Amazon is Flipkart’s greatest rival. The e-commerce industry has seen a lot of mergers and acquisitions recently, and Flipkart has also made a lot of acquisitions to grow its business and increase sales and profits.

Local women and partners in kirana delivery will have access to seasonal employment opportunities, both direct and indirect. The firm claimed in a statement that people with disabilities (PWDs) will also be engaged to establish a varied supply chain talent.

Prior to the holiday season, Flipkart stated that it anticipated creating over a million new employment opportunities throughout its supply chain, including fulfilment centres, sortation centres, and delivery hubs.

The Big Billion Days (TBBD) is about scale, innovating for India, and impacting the ecosystem. It allows millions of new customers to experience the goodness of e-commerce, many of them for the first time,” Flipkart Group Senior Vice President and Head of Supply Chain, Customer Experience and eCommerce, Hemant Badri said.

The Flipkart sale period, or TBBD, is when it provides discounts on items from renowned companies.

The complexity and scale during TBBD require us to scale up for capacity, storage, placement, sorting, packaging, human resources, training, delivery, and the entire supply chain, and this scale is always unprecedented,” Badri said.

He claims that the business intends to use its kirana delivery initiative to deliver more than 40% of shipments this year.

This year, the business said, Flipkart expanded into more than 19 lakh square feet of space across a number of states, including Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Telangana.
