The Ministry of Education in the United Arab Emirates has announced that the second Future of Education Forum will take place during the World Government Summit in 2024. The World Government Summit is a major annual event that brings together leaders from government and international organisations to discuss important issues. In 2024, it will be held from February 12-14 in Dubai.
The Future of Education Forum will specifically focus on reshaping learning techniques and developing skills for the future. It will explore both traditional and modern approaches to education with the goal of creating advanced systems that meet future needs. The forum aims to give students comprehensive learning experiences that empower them to access knowledge from different sources and improve their practical and soft skills.
This year’s forum is themed “The Future of Education – Education Reimagined”. It will take place on February 14 and bring together over 300 education experts including government officials, specialists and academics. They will discuss how to reimagine the foundations of education at all levels from primary to higher education. The rapid changes in technology and society mean that education systems must also change and evolve. They need to equip young people with the skills and knowledge required for the future.
The Future of Education Forum program includes seven sessions. There will be high-level roundtable discussions between education ministers and higher education leaders from around the world focused on redefining higher education. The UAE’s Minister of Education will participate in a conversation on making science more appealing and accessible to youth.
Global panel discussions will explore alternative learning approaches and the role of entrepreneurship in education. A workshop will analyze policies for adopting artificial intelligence in education. Sessions will also be held in cooperation with the UAE’s Digital School on empowering communities through digital learning and developing a regional digital education roadmap.
The overarching themes of the 2024 World Government Summit cover areas like government innovation, artificial intelligence, sustainable development, future societies and education, environmental sustainability, and global health. Over 200 speakers and 120 government delegations are expected to participate in the summit. In addition to panel discussions, there will be forums, ministerial meetings and workshops held across the three days.
By bringing together leaders and experts, the Future of Education Forum aims to develop new ideas and strategies for education systems. It provides a platform to discuss shaping learning for the future and ensuring young people gain the skills they need in a rapidly changing world. The outcomes of the forum should help countries in the region progress their education systems and policies.
