On Thursday, the on-demand convenience delivery platform Swiggy announced a collaboration with Gogoro Inc, a manufacturer of battery-swapping solutions for electric vehicles, to advertise its electric Smart Scooters to Swiggy’s last-mile delivery partners throughout India.
Sriharsha Majety, Nandan Reddy, and Rahul Jaimini launched the on-demand food delivery service Swiggy in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, in 2014.
On the company’s food delivery platform, customers may find a list of nearby eateries and their menus, place orders, and follow the delivery of the company’s delivery personnel.
Restaurant orders are picked up by Swiggy’s delivery staff, who then deliver them to consumers.
According to Horace Luke, founder and CEO of Gogoro, the partnership between Swiggy and Gogoro would give users a simple route to adopting environmentally friendly electric vehicles and boosting their company productivity.
“Partnering with Swiggy, a leading player in the industry, to provide access to Gogoro Smartscooters and battery swapping is essential in successfully transforming India’s urban fleets to electric,” he added.
Swiggy Head of Operations Mihir Shah said, “This partnership with Gogoro is another key step in our commitment to creating greener and cost-effective solutions for our delivery fleet.”
Shah further said, “Gogoro’s battery swapping technology represents a new generation of electric refuelling that has proven successful on a mass scale for last-mile delivery, and we look forward to working with them to transform hyperlocal deliveries to be more sustainable and efficient in India.”
Swiggy stated in 2021 that it will use EV deliveries to go 8 lakh kilometres daily.
On the other side, the Gogoro platform offers a two-wheeler battery switching system that enables delivery operators to manage their fleets and deliveries more successfully and sustainably.
