The messaging service recently posted a video of a parent and kid discussing WhatsApp’s privacy settings.
In an effort to protect users’ data privacy, messaging app WhatsApp has launched a brand campaign in India to educate users about its three new features. The messaging behemoth has told its users about the three new capabilities via an audiovisual medium.
The updated features now allow for silent group exits, online status privacy settings, and screenshot blocking.
Users can now secretly quit groups without alerting other users. Additionally, WhatsApp has added a feature that lets users choose which users can see their online activity.
In addition, the messaging service is testing a feature that lets users prevent screenshots from being taken off ‘see once’ messages. The function will shortly be made public.
WhatsApp reaffirmed that all private conversations are secured by end-to-end encryption, making it impossible for anyone—including the messaging service—to view or overhear them.
The messaging service claimed to provide end-to-end encryption for the ability to backup chat history, making it private and only available to users with a password and encryption key.
Additionally, WhatsApp offers a vanishing message feature that allows users to send photographs and videos that vanish after being opened. Users can choose periods of 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days.
Users have the option to block specific contacts in order to cease receiving calls and texts from them, as well as to report them if they are sending spam or objectionable content.
