The project is scheduled to run until October 2023 and will provide green energy to Mumbai’s Vivarea Condominium development at approximately 40% less than current costs.
Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. Tata Power subsidiary TPREL said Wednesday it had signed a solar energy supply contract with Mumbai’s Vivarea Condominium. First, a 3,125MW solar power plant will be built in Himayatnagar, Maharashtra to operate society with clean energy.
“TPREL will undertake the construction, operation, and maintenance of this captive solar power plant, which is expected to generate about 7.5 MU of energy and offset 6.15 metric tonnes of carbon in the first year itself,” the company said.
“We are happy to announce our ground-breaking partnership with the Vivarea Condominium, Mumbai to provide clean power for residential purposes through our captive solar plant. This association is a testament to TPREL’s continued efforts to mainstream the use of renewable energy,” said Shivram Bikkina, Chief – of Rooftop, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited.
With the installation of this solar panel plant, Tata Power will make Vivarea Condominium the first residential community in the country to use solar power for homes. The project aligns with the company’s ongoing commitment to energy security, equity, and sustainability for its customers.

The company has a portfolio of 10 GW utility-scale terrestrial solar projects and more than 1.3 GW of rooftop and nationwide distributed generation projects. TPREL also operates a manufacturing facility in Bangalore with 1,135 MW of module and cell production capacity.
