According to TeamLease EdTech’s Career Outlook Report 2024, top IT companies want to hire over 40,000 freshmen in the next six months.
According to a report by employment agency TeamLease Digital, the growing need for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and High-Performance Computing worldwide is driving the expansion of the IT business.
According to Jaideep Kewalramani, COO of TeamLease EdTech, “generative AI automation is set to transform workflows, so freshers need to be prepared to collaborate effectively with AI systems.”
However, compared to 49% over the same period in 2023, the hiring intent for freshmen in the IT industry has dropped to 42% in H1 2024.
According to the recruiting firm’s analysis, the hiring intent for entry-level professionals has increased somewhat over the past six months (January to June 2024) to 68% across all industries, compared to 62% over the same time the previous year.

According to the research, the top three industries with the highest likelihood of hiring new hires in the first half of this year are telecommunications (50%), engineering and infrastructure (53%), and e-commerce and technology startups (55%).
The research predicts that between January and June of this year, industrial organizations will hire 15–30% more graduates. Furthermore, building companies’ multi-crore expenditures in residential and commercial projects are expected to create significant possibilities for recent graduates.
The retail, healthcare, and logistics sectors have good hiring sentiment outlooks for fresh graduates, with 46%, 44%, and 32%, respectively. Freshmen’s hiring intent in the travel and hospitality industry is 19% in H1 2024, up from 15% in July through December 2023.
The industries with the highest hiring intent among freshmen are media and entertainment (18%), consulting (10%), and marketing and advertising (6%).
Chemical Engineer, Legal Associate, Architect, Graphic Designer, Microbiologist, Financial Analyst, Clinical Data Analyst, Junior Product Analyst, Cloud Support Engineer, Digital Marketing Executive, Software Developer, Medical Coder, Content Creator, Network Engineer, and E-commerce Executive are the top job roles across industries that are in demand for fresh graduates, according to the TeamLease analysis conducted in the first half of the current year.
The most sought-after certifications in the nation include those in artificial intelligence, digital marketing, cloud security, supply chain management, cyber security expert, business analyst, and cloud security, among other fields.
