Jayanti Chauhan, the daughter of Bisleri International’s Chairman Ramesh Chauhan, will now lead the popular bottled water company. According to a report by the Economic Times, Jayanti Chauhan will take over as the head of the company, while working with a team headed by chief executive Angelo George.

This move comes after talks with Tata Consumer Products (TCPL) to sell a majority stake in the company for Rs 6,000-7,000 crore failed. TCPL announced last week that it had ceased negotiations and had not entered into any definitive agreement or binding commitment on the matter. Bisleri International has been a popular brand in India for decades and has expanded its operations to other countries as well. With Jayanti at the helm, the company is expected to continue its growth trajectory and maintain its position as a leading player in the bottled water industry.

Bisleri International has been expanding its Vedika brand under the guidance of Jayanti Chauhan for several years. With over 122 operational plants and 4,500 distributors across India and neighboring countries, Bisleri has established itself as a major player in the beverage industry. According to media reports, Bisleri is expected to achieve sales of Rs 2,500 crore and a net profit of over Rs 200 crore in the financial year 2022-23 (FY23).

Recently, there were talks of a potential deal between Bisleri International and Tata Consumer Products Limited (TCPL). If the deal had gone through, TCPL would have become the largest company in the Indian fast-moving consumer goods space. However, it seems that the deal did not materialize.

It is worth noting that the biggest deal in this space so far took place in April 2020 when Hindustan Unilever acquired Horlicks from GSK for Rs 3,045 crore. Despite the potential deal falling through, Bisleri remains a strong player in the Indian market with a loyal customer base and a wide distribution network.

Bisleri International was originally an Italian company set up by Felice Bisleri. It entered Mumbai in 1965 with its packaged drinking water brand. Four years later, Ramesh Chauhan and his brothers acquired the firm for Rs 4 lakh, according to market information.

Ramesh Chauhan stated that Jayanti Chauhan will run the company with their professional team and they have no plans to sell the business. This announcement comes as a surprise to many who were anticipating the deal with TCPL to go through.

Overall, it seems that Bisleri International is set to continue its growth under Jayanti Chauhan’s leadership and expand its presence in the Indian market.
