During the 46th annual general meeting of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), chairman Mukesh Ambani announced that their telecom unit, Jio, plans to deploy one million 5G cells by December 2023. This ambitious goal reflects their commitment to advancing telecommunications technology.
According to the Mukesh Ambani; Reliance Jio operates 85% of all 5G cells in India. They also plan to have nearly one million 5G cells operational by December 2023.
During a discussion about Jio’s success, Ambani proudly announced that the company has amassed an impressive subscriber base of approximately 450 million users. He confidently asserted that Jio offers the most exceptional 5G coverage, capacity, and user experience. Ambani shared that they are swiftly deploying one 5G cell every 10 seconds to further enhance their network capabilities.
In its last annual report, the telecommunications company outlined its investment plans of Rs 2 lakh crore. Additionally, it stated that it has reinvested Rs 1.2 lakh crore in the group to support and expand operations.
In the previous year, Ambani’s focus was on creating and providing a strong and unified network experience through 5G technology. This included developing various digital platforms for entertainment, commerce, communication, finance, health, agriculture, and education.
As part of the ‘Jio Welcome Offer,’ the telecommunications company is offering free 5G services, meaning that the pricing remains unchanged from their 4G packs.
In January of this year, Jio introduced its Rs 61 ‘5G Upgrade’ plan. This unique data pack offers users 6GB of high-speed 4G data and also allows them to access 5G data.
