Maruti Suzuki India reported a 28% rise in exports at 2,63,068 units in 2022 on Tuesday, its highest ever overseas shipment.
The highest exported models in 2022 were Swift, Dzire, Baleno, S-Presso and Brezza, the company said in a statement.
Exports grew by 28% between the period of current year and previous year. Company’s previous highest export was achieved in 2021 with a total of 2,05,450 units. Moreover, the company’s export was more than double the volume it exported in pre-COVID year 2019, which stood at 1,07,190 units.
In 2020, during the covid period the exports of the company dropped to 85,208 from 1,07,190 units exported in 2019, the pre-COVID period.
“Crossing the 2 lakh milestone in exports for the second consecutive year signifies the trust, quality, reliability, performance, and affordability of our products, this achievement further aligns with our strong commitment to the government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative to manufacture products to delight global customers.”
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) Managing Director & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said.
He further added- “We are thankful for the support from our parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation to enable us to leverage a wider distribution network across the globe. Further, adding more models to our portfolio helped sustain excitement in the export markets.”
Maruti Suzuki began its export journey 37 years ago in 1987 with its first consignment to Hungary, now it exports vehicles to over 100 countries. The company is back in the game with exporting over 2,35,670 units, becoming the export market leader in FY2022.
