With the low visibility of Ev charging stations in India, the Centre has developed a master application to locate the remote stations.
This application will provide real-time availability slots around the area for your electric vehicles while commuting to enhance your traveling experience.
On June 7th, 2023, a meeting was held by Niti Aayog with all the companies responsible for operating public EV stations. The agenda was pre-defined and discussions were raised concerning launching a beta version of the master app in the following weeks. These pieces of information were provided by the attendees of the meeting.
Any user can discover the nearest charging slot, book the place of charging, and can make transactions. Asian Development Bank is the funder of this project. The Indian government will own and operate the application.
The issue that many people are facing concerning charging their EVs is that there is no availability of centralized charging applications as companies have their discreet applications. This is the issue the master application will be solving in the future.
“Aggregation is the need of the hour. However, the app needs to be thoroughly tested, validated, and integrated at the software level,” said Kartikey Hariyani, founder and chief executive of Charge Zone, a charging station operator.
Convergence Energy Services Ltd is the propounder of solving such a problem. The present members of the meeting shared their conversations about data privacy and data sharing with third parties.
Industry sources stated that these applications will make their competition slow. The board acknowledged such concerns and asked the companies to work along by themselves and come up with a workable solution in the following weeks.
“An idea was floated if this app can be developed by next month for unveiling at a G20 event to showcase our progress in this area,” said an industry representative who participated in the Niti Aayog meeting.
