The expansion comes on the heels of the social network’s initial NFT test launch in May. Users and businesses in over 100 countries across Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and the Americas will now be able to share their NFTs on Instagram as a result of this expansion.
According to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the company is starting to expand the international support for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on its photo and video-sharing platform Instagram.
The expansion comes on the heels of the social network’s initial NFT test launch in May. Users and businesses in over 100 countries across Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and the Americas will now be able to share their NFTs on Instagram as a result of this expansion.
Prior to the expansion, the support was only available to a select group of creators in the United States, according to TechCrunch. In addition, the company announced that Coinbase Wallet and Dapper Wallet are now accepted as third-party wallets that can be used.
Instagram is also adding Flow to its list of supported blockchains.
Users can connect a digital wallet to Instagram’s NFT functionality, share NFTs, and automatically tag a creator and collector for attribution.
NFTs can be shared in the main Instagram Feed, Stories, or messages. When they publish a digital collectible, it will have a shimmer effect and will be able to display public information, such as a description of the NFT.
Users must connect their digital wallets to Instagram in order to post a digital collectible.
