Prime Minister Narendra Modi will review the situation of COVID-19 and its related issues in the country at a high-level meeting scheduled on Thursday.
The meeting will be held around 3:30 pm in the afternoon.
The meeting is being held as Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya asked the people after reviewing the situation in the country to follow the COVID-19 protocols which include wearing masks in crowded places and getting vaccinated.
Four cases of the Omicron subvariant BF.7, the strain behind China’s current surge of Covid cases, have been detected in India — 2 in Odisha and 2 in Gujarat. In Gujarat, both the patients, who had foreign travel history, have recovered, as per PTI.
Official sources have said that random sampling will be done at airports for international passengers arriving from China or other countries.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is also conducting an emergency meeting on Thursday to review the covid-19 situation in the state as the new omicron sub-variant BF.7 is known to spread very fast.
The Maharashtra health department has asked the administrations to increase the covid-19 tests as the situation in the country can go down anytime.
The Health Minister while reviewing the situation in the county said that covid-19 is not over yet and that the country is in an alarming situation and is prepared enough to counter the situations in the coming future.
India has recorded 185 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours. According to the data shared by Union Health Ministry, the recovery rate has reached upto 98.80 percent, and the total recovery is reached upto 4,41,42,432.
Currently, the active cases in the country are 3,402 while yesterday the cases were recorded around 3,408. This shows a total decrease of 6 cases in the last 24 hours in the country.
