On August 19, brand-new orange Vande Bharat trains are scheduled to depart from Chennai’s Integral Coach Factory.
The new train is anticipated to include a number of ground-breaking safety and technological advancement elements.
The new eight-coach Vande Bharat trains will have a striking orange exterior, better access to mobile charging ports, extended footrests for Executive Chair car class coaches, and improvements in basins to prevent water splashes, according to a report in the Free Press Journal.
Additionally, passengers will benefit from touch-sensitive reading lamps, improved restroom illumination, and innovative roller blind fabric.
The new Vande Bharat train has fastening hooks for wheelchair attachment in driving trailer coaches as well as an anti-climbing mechanism that should increase safety, according to the FPJ study, improving functioning for passengers with special requirements.
The new colouring of the 28th rake of the indigenous train is “inspired by the Indian Tricolour,” according to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
In the second week of October 2022, ICF made history by being the first passenger coach manufacturer in the world to produce more than 70,000 coaches since its founding in 1955.
India already has 25 pairs of Vande Bharat services, 18 of which were introduced in 2023, thanks to a flood of new routes this year. On February 15, 2019, the Prime Minister signalled the start of the inaugural Vande Bharat Express, which runs between New Delhi and Varanasi.
An indigenously made, semi-high-speed, self-propelled train set is called the Vande Bharat Express. Modern passenger facilities aboard the train provide for a speedier, more pleasant, and more convenient journey for passengers. It was initially produced by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai under the name Train 18.
