Recently featured in the local blockbuster KGF Chapter 2, Yash joined Salman Khan to advertise the Pepsi brand in India.
Beverage brand Pepsi has hired Kannada actor Yash, who starred in the KGF blockbuster, as its brand ambassador. Yash, who recently starred in the national blockbuster KGF Chapter 2, joins the Indian Pepsi brand along with Salman Khan.
The 37-year-old actor will play a key role in deepening the Pepsi brand’s relationship with consumers as it expands its presence in the country, company executives said.
“We are thrilled to join hands with Rocking Star Yash, a name that truly defines the spirit of fearlessness and living life on your own terms something that Pepsi consumers resonate strongly with. Yash brings a strong connection and influence over the youth that cuts across geographies. Yash will be instrumental in deepening consumer connect as we look to expand the brand’s footprint,” said Saumya Rathor, category lead, Pepsi Cola, PepsiCo India.
This move also indicates the growing appeal of South Indian celebrities following the success of South Indian cinema. As a result, leading stars from Telugu, Kannada, and Tamil are supported and their salaries are on par with Bollywood stars.
Yash will be featured in a new Pepsi TV campaign with a new set of avatars, taking over traditional and digital platforms across the country. The collaboration was announced when Yash posted a video of himself drinking a bottle of Pepsi confirming his love for his brand with his family, who have over 12 million followers.
“Pepsi has constantly reinvented and innovated itself to be a part of the cultural fabric of India. Yash, on the other hand, has been lauded for his fearless and bold persona in Kannada cinema and enjoys a massive fanbase across the nation. The disruptive partnership between Pepsi and Yash will become a huge topic of conversation amongst the youth of India,” the company said in a statement.
