The engineering and construction firm Larsen & Toubro Ltd. said on Monday that it had secured “large” orders for the power transmission and distribution industry in India and abroad during the current quarter through its construction division.

Orders valued between ₹2,500 crore and ₹5,000 crore are categorised as “large” orders by L&T.

An order to install 400 kV and 220 kV transmission in Chhattisgarh has been won by the company’s Power Transmission & Distribution unit. According to the firm, the project will assist in relieving the strain on the state’s electrical transmission infrastructure.

The aforementioned company was awarded another order in Saudi Arabia for the turnkey building of an overhead transmission line and 380 kV substation.

In Kuwait, a third order was secured for the construction of five substations to serve a future residential metropolis with a dependable and effective power supply.  According to L&T, further orders have been won in the ongoing substation orders in Qatar.

A consortium led by L&T has also been awarded a contract to build a 275kV subterranean cable system in Malaysia, doubling the current network’s capacity for power transmission.

The company’s hydrocarbon division received a Letter of Intent for a “mega” onshore project earlier this month from a Middle Eastern client. According to L&T, the scope of the work includes the engineering, procurement, and construction of gas compression plants, which include utilities for the gas compression facilities in the new onshore facilities, condensate transfer, produced water handling, propane refrigeration system, and gas inlet facilities. The work also involves the integration of these plants with already-existing gas compression plants.

Additionally, the construction company received a sizable contract from the Rajasthan Public Health Engineering Department to build a water supply project under the Jal Jeevan Mission (Package-I) for 648 villages in the District of Chittorgarh, utilising the Chambal River. ‘Large’ orders are those that fall between Rs 2,500 crore and Rs 5,000 crore, however L&T does not reveal the precise order value.

The unaudited consolidated and standalone financial statements of the company for the quarter ended September 30, 2023, will be discussed and approved by the L&T board during its meeting on Tuesday.

At ₹2,899.50, shares of Larsen & Toubro are currently trading hardly changed.
