Solaire Initiatives Private Limited, a startup based in West Bengal, built a device called ‘OM Redox’, which created pure oxygen from water.
In West Bengal, innovation seems to be making new pages of history. Until recently, a company called Solaire Initiatives Pvt. Ltd. created a device that could produce oxygen from water. This event takes place just by pressing a simple switch. In Webel-BCC&I Tech, the company got incubated and hopes to bring their product with a selfless mindset towards the welfare of the society.
The machine has a switch and is designed with a simple box-shaped contour. The company claims that the oxygen produced by the machine is 3.5x times more pure than the oxygen received from a concentrator. The founders of Solaire Initiatives Pvt Ltd, Dr. Soumyajit Roy and his wife Dr. Pei Liang shares their expression of optimism for OM Redox.
The Department of Biotechnology selected the patented product for showcasing at the first Bio-Tech Expo held in 2022. Production of oxygen takes place with adsorption from pressure swing along with liquefaction of air, where concentrators undergo air concentration with the help of a compressor and using a catalyst from which it passes. Here, oxygen is created from air.
In OM Redox, oxygen is created from oxidation of water that is pneumatically coupled by applying electrocatalytic reaction. The technology being patented and receiving approval from World Health Organization and European standardization committees, appeared in a book written by Dr. Jitendra Singh, who is the Minister of Union Science and Technology.
The white box made of pinewood and weighing 8 kgs is awaiting licensing and manufacturing of the product followed by a strong marketing campaign to raise awareness in the market. OM Redox has enough potential for scalability as said by the founders of Solaire Initiative Pvt. Ltd. in the joint conference by Bengal Chamber of Commerce and West Bengal Electronics Industry Development Corporation Limited (WEBEL).
