Proofpoint, Inc., a dominant player among cybersecurity and compliance companies, signed a memorandum of understanding with CyberGate Defense LLC, a prime cybersecurity organization offering end-to-end cybersecurity and digital solutions. The agreement was initiated during Proofpoint’s Protect Tour event in Dubai this week under the auspices of His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of the UAE Cyber Security Council. The MoU was signed by Cherif Morcos, Chief Business Officer at CyberGate and Emile Abou Saleh, Vice President of Northern Europe, Middle East, Turkey & Africa at Proofpoint.

As cyber threats continue to evolve in the UAE, human error remains the biggest risk to organizations. Research from Proofpoint shows that more than 76 percent of CISOs in the UAE consider human error their biggest cybersecurity vulnerability. Because cyber threats are now increasingly being directed at the individual, not the target’s infrastructure, organizations need a people-centric cybersecurity approach to mitigate the risks accordingly.

With this expanded alliance, CyberGate will provide Proofpoint’s cybersecurity solutions to organizations across the UAE to stop threats, protect sensitive information and enhance awareness among users. Proofpoint will also integrate its cybersecurity awareness training platform known as ZenGuide into CyberGate Academy’s existing curriculum, providing cybersecurity training to businesses in the UAE and beyond.

Emile Abou Saleh iterated that the cybersecurity landscape in the UAE has rapidly changed, thus pushing organizations to keep pace with the emerging threats. Proofpoint plans to focus on protecting public sector companies in the area through its AI-powered human-centric solutions. This will further help to increase cybersecurity awareness and education to equip organizations with the toolkits necessary to protect their people and data.

Cherif Morcos observed that innovative mechanisms were needed for strengthening the resilience posture of cybersecurity in the region. He expressed the belief that being in partnership with Proofpoint, a global leader in cybersecurity, would be to the benefit of the organizations across sectors through the transfer of knowledge and resource capabilities. Yours truly will work on strengthening the cybersecurity defenses and protection of businesses from emerging threats.

This partnership illustrates the unflagging dedication of Proofpoint to the Middle East; it is ramping up its investments for the region and has recently announced the activation of its Dubai-based data center for human-centric security solutions to satisfy UAE local data residency and related regulatory needs.

As Dubai becomes a prominent regional technology and cyber security hub, the joining of hands between Proofpoint and CyberGate is a considerable active measure toward providing the city with better cyber resiliency. This partnership intends to make the UAE businesses and public sector organizations safer by emphasizing awareness, training, and best-in-class solutions in the cyber realm.
