Thousands of engineering aspirants are demanding that the 1st session of the Joint Entrance Exam JEE Mains scheduled in January should be postponed as the reputed entrance exam is scheduled to be held just a fortnight before board exams and may clash with aspirant’s practical exams. The first session of the JEE is scheduled from January 24 to 31, 2023 except Republic Day.
The class 12 CBSE board exams are scheduled to be held from February 15, 2023, while the practical exams of the students will be conducted in January. On social media platforms hashtag “postponeJEE Mains” is trending with aspirants tagging the education ministry and National Testing Agency (NTA) raising their issue.
A JEE mains aspirant Ritu talking to the media said, “Pursuing engineering and becoming an engineer is a dream of million of students and the emotions of their parents and teachers are connected with this prestigious entrance exam. But due to the declaration of premature dates clahing with board exams, they have started to give up on their dreams”.
Anubha Sahai, a lawyer and President of India Wide Parents Association, said, Students are under serious stress and this is problematic. Only a couple of days ago three students died by suicide in the coaching hub Kota; Rajasthan because of reported stress on them.
The second edition of JEE Mains is scheduled to be conducted on April 6, 8, 10-12, 2023.
